HS Day 122 – Change of schedule !!

As I have been having some issues with certain children.. I won’t name & shame.. yet….  rushing through their work in order to finish and play.  This rushing normally involves (especially in his maths paces) random, incorrect answers being entered.

Seriously, does he think I don’t check these things?  Anyway… to deal with this issue,  my husband & I have decided that for a period, until this is resolved, we are going to stick to the ‘normal’ school hours.  This means that playtime cannot begin until 3PM.  Of course there will still be play break times though twice throughout the day.  My thoughts  on the matter are that if the child in question knows that playtime isn’t until 3PM, maybe,  just maybe, he may put more effort into his work.. knowing he needs to fill a fair amount of time.

Don’t worry… there are loads more things they can fill the time with, even if they do finish by lunchtime, which is quite common.  They have their LOTE subject to do, as well as Mathletics, story writing, memory verses, spelling words etc etc etc.

So, here’s hoping things will improve from today.

Blessings peeps !

Back on track peeps…. & NOT FALLING OFF AGAIN !!

Wow…  2 posts in one day… I’m on fire !!  LOL

Anyways….  I have just gotten back from my first walk (with my beautiful daughter), which I am believing is the first day of getting back on track with my fitness !!

You guys may not know, but 2yrs ago.. right around this time.. I decided to get fit & healthy.  I was convicted in the area of knowing that, while I was housing the Holy Spirit, I wasn’t taking care of the temple.   I weighed 71.8kg (I’m 165cm tall, to give you some perspective), and I wanted to get down to 60kg, which is a nice weight for my height.  I was beyond proud of myself that I stuck with the program and got down to 62kgs by Christmas.  I maintained this weight for about 6months and have very sadly let it creep back on… and finally I have decided enough is enough !!!   I am disappointed in myself for sure, but I know that God blessed me with the ability, patience and determination last time… and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt He will this time.

I am really encouraged by the fact that I know I have achieved this before, so I know I can do it again.  It did take a LOT of hard work though, so I know I have that ahead of me, but it is totally worth it as I have realised over this last 18months how much better my body works when lighter.  I didn’t get any of the sore feet or back that I get now.  I didn’t get sick basically at all..  My food intake was so much better too which would account for me body functioning better.

Another thing that greatly helped me was having scales to get on once a week… I’ve never wanted to ‘live by the number’, but I must say it really helped me to see that number going down each week.  And, as silly as it seems…  one of the reasons that I let it creep back on is because the batteries died in my scales and I haven’t gotten new ones… stop laughing.. it’s true.

So, here goes !!!  PERMANENT lifestyle change !!  Feel free to keep me accountable peeps !!!

Blessings !!  xox

Toowoomba mini trip !

Hiya all…  I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve blogged…  slap slap.  Will aim to improve and get back into the swing of things.

We have just returned from a couple of days at Toowoomba.  For those of you not in Australia, Toowoomba is a ‘country’ town 2hr west of Brisbane… but not ‘country’ in the real sense of the word seeing as while we were there we went to the movies, had breakfast at coffee club, the kids ate lunch at McDonalds, I bought jeans at Jay Jay’s, and shoes at Williams… etc etc.

We stayed at the swankiest place in Toowoomba…  don’t really know why actually, but it was very nice.  We were on the 9th floor, which is basically the highest position in Toowoomba.  Unfortunately though, the rooves of the buildings in the CBD are all very boring, so the view wasn’t that fabulous.  Night time was lovely though.  It was a great position being right in the middle of the city as we could walk to absolutely everything we did.

We were there because Terry had to do some night work at the Toowoomba exchange, and he could have even walked to work, but the gear required etc prevented him from being able to do that.

The Hotel had a heated pool … and a HOT spa… It was sooooo lovely. The kids braved the pool, but Terry & I were only game enough for the nice hot spa.  I would so love to have one at home…. on cold winter nights.

Anyway…  such trivial info…  We enjoyed our walking around the city etc as we got to see the budding (excuse the pun) beginnings of the plans for Carnival of Flowers which is in a couple of months.  It’s amazing to think such tiny beginnings will result in the gorgeous overflowing gardens that are on show in September.

Here’s a sample of what they look like by September….

We’ve come home to find a possible burn off going on somewhere nearby, as it is raining ash everywhere.  Not a great occurrence when standing outside wearing a white shirt… whoops.

We are finally getting into our schoolwork for the day just now…  doesn’t bode well for an early finish time.

Our character trait journey is still going well, although we are still focusing on the first two I told you about due to lots going on of late…  I don’t want to just breeze over any, so if I think it’s going to need more time, I’m going to give it.

I listened to two fantastic sermons while away… both by Rich Wilkerson Jnr.  While he’s quite young and not always super serious throughout his sermons, the message within it is thought provoking to say the least.  I actually got onto this particular speaker because his wife, Dawnchere, is a speaker at next years Colour conference.  She is actually the main reason I purchased tickets for myself and Tyler-Jasmine to go.  Apparently she is a great speaker with teenage girls.  I wanted to share some links with you of the sermons I listened to but I seem to be having technical difficulties, so I would really encourage you to YouTube search both of them.

Another exciting event in the lives of us Kingsleys…  we hosted my sister’s 40th b’day party on Saturday night.  It was loads of fun.  Here’s a great pic of the party atmosphere we created.

Ok peeps…   that’s about all for now.  Hope to be blogging with you all again soon.

CT #1 & #2.. the journey begins !! EXCITING !!

OK peeps…. So here it is… The first two Character Traits we are going to focus on for the next week and a bit….. it’ll normally be a week, but because it’s mid-week, I’m going to run it through to the end of next week.

CT #1 Truthfullness vs deception – Earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts.  Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

CT #2 Alertness vs Unawareness – Being aware of that which is taking place around me so that I can have the right responses.  Mark 14:38 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

I have no doubt that, as a family and through Christ, we will grow exponentially during this journey !!

Oh… and PS…..  THIS IS MY 100th Post !!!!  WOOT WOOT !!

An honest blog… honest and raw.

So, if you follow my blogs, you’ll know that I had a character traits chart enlarged and laminated and plan to work on two character traits per week.

Great idea right ?  Heck yes, but have I been able to start this fantastic plan?  Unfortunately not.  Some of it is laziness… some of it is pure caution and nervousness. Now, I’ll unpack that one..  Ever since that day of having that poster made and making the declaration of wanting to concentrate on this in our home, we have probably had some of our worst days, behaviour wise.

Every negative or ‘not displayed enough’ character trait I’m wanting to focus on has been out in force in both myself and my children since that day.

The enemy sure doesn’t want me focusing on these traits.  The frustrating thing though is that I KNOW this.. I KNEW I would be up against these attacks, so I have NO excuse when it comes to having allowed these attacks to delay me beginning this within my home.

Here’s just 3 times in scripture that brings this home…

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James 4:7

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from me,” says the Lord. Isaiah 54:17

And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Revelation 12:11.

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4.

So…  accountability baby !!!  I totally give you all permission to CALL ME OUT on this if you don’t see progressive blogs on this subject.

Blessings in abundance Peeps !!
