Jesus… our constant encourager

Evening all… Well, it’s Sunday night and I’m only a good sleep away from a new week of work, study.. and all the other things that go with the ‘Mum life’.

As you can see by the below photo, I was able to pull myself out from under the lazy sunday haze, and head out to the shed for a solid workout tonight.   ūü§ó

As always, I feel super encouraged after having done my session.   I’ve given my body the respect it is due, while also continuing to thank my Lord for His ultimate sacrifice.   Whenever I want to quit, I remind myself that Jesus had nails put thru his wrists & ankles, hung on that cross, suffered a torturous death…. all so that I would have LIFE.. and have it in abundance. (John 10:10b).  The very least I can do is respect the earthly tent he gave me.

I’ve shared with you all before how I can often struggle with the ‘mind game ‘ of fitness and healthy living.   I can be nowhere near ‘falling off the wagon ‘ but can end up feeling that way due to a comment or situation that has happened.  Now, this weekends occurance shows that it’s not only a negative or nasty comment that the enemy can use as a way to pull you down.  I had a friend over who is on a fitness journey, just like me.  Now all she did was explain her methods, fitness & food choices etc.. and I came away feeling that I was ‘doing it wrong ‘ (which illogically takes me down the train of thought that I’m ‘failing’).

This didn’t bring me low for long at all, Praise God.  It did however remind me that I need to hold my shield up high at all times.   Something so innocent… not ever a comment about me personally.. or my choices.. had me doubting myself.

I need to constantly remind myself Who I am.. and whos I am !! I do this in the day to day.. but I need to apply this to my fitness journey also.   I’ve said it before… Jesus is my workout buddy… and it’s so true..  He gets me through EVERY workout, soothes every pain… gives me the confidence to lift that extra weight.. and never leaves my side !!

So that means I actually talk thru every part of the journey with him.  What I’ll eat (or not), how hard I’ll push myself.. etc etc.   I don’t need to doubt my methods and choices.. even when they’re different to someone else’s.. because I made those choices with my Lord !!

This level of confidence in my journey is beyond awesome !!!!! It makes it very easy to stay on track.. even with the odd temporary ‘down’ period.

Ok peeps…. enjoy your week & remember that our journeys are all different.  We won’t travel the same path to reach our destination.  ūüėé

Much love & encouragement !! xx

PS.  In my pic tonight I’m wearing my new fav workout singlet.   My super awesome sister brought this home from Hawaii for me yest (That’s why I’m doing the shakaūüėÖ).  As my Mum pointed out today … the words don’t only speak to my fitness journey.. but also to my spiritual journey.  This is so so true…. and I’m constantly under construction in His will !!! LOVE IT !!!

Chicken & sweet potatoes.. my fave !!

Yes, I gotta say…. the fact that my family doesn’t complain about how much chicken & sweet potato are plated up for them each fortnight can only be a testament to my skills when it comes to variety !! (Yay Me !!)

Tonight I once again had a hankering for chicken, but my actual craving was not too healthy, so I had to come up with another plan. ¬†As I’m sure you’re curious what my craving was…. ¬†it was chicken & mushroom Calzone. ¬†As the bread option is not super fab to have, especially in the evening.. I thankfully managed to put my craving aside. ¬†Good thing really, as I’m pretty sure tonight’s meal was one of my finest… and I totally just made it up as I went along (as I often do). ¬†In the interest of utter honesty, I was also feeling extremely LAZY tonight.. I wanted a delicious meal, requiring very LITTLE effort to prepare. ¬†Check out the method… WAY EASY !!

As I have no idea what is a suitable name for my creation tonight, let’s just call it Fi’s chicken surprise !!¬†

IMG_0931

Now, some things I want to make clear here….

  1.  this is my HUSBANDS serving size, mine was like maybe the same sweet potato fries, but about a third of the chicken.  I gotta tell you though, it was sooooo hard to not go back for seconds of the chicken.
  2. Yes, aren’t you all impressed how much effort I put into making my photo like super professional. ¬†ha ha.
  3. Yes, I use a LOT of Turmeric in my cooking, hence the now empty bottle.. whoops. ¬†(not to self… add Turmeric to shopping list). ¬†PS… ¬†Turmeric is WAY GOOD FOR YOU !!

So.. how do you make this masterpiece I hear you say….

Ingredients

  • 1kg Skinless chicken breast, cut up into small slices
  • 150g fresh spinach
  • 120g cut up mushrooms
  • small red onion finely sliced
  • Parsley, Basil & Tumeric (vary to taste)
  • 4 generous dollops of cottage cheese

Method

  • Preheat oven to 180¬įC
  • Place all ingredients into oven-safe pan, or foil tray.
  • Using a wooden spoon, stir up all ingredients.
  • Cover with foil and place in pre-heated oven for 1hr.

Once you have your chicken dish in the oven, start preparing your sweet potato fries.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium to large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
  • Cinnamon
  • butter (not Margarine peeps.. that stuff is GROSS)

Method

  • Microwave for 16mins with a dob of butter ¬†& some cinnamon sprinkled on top.
  • Once par-cooked in microwave, place on an oven tray and in the oven with your chicken dish. ¬†Leave to cook/crisp for the remainder of the chicken cooking time.
  • Serve up & ENJOY !!!

This meal was so so easy to make.. and the whole family was impressed.  DH even went back for seconds.

Enjoy & be blessed peeps !!  xox

It’s HEALTHY recipe share time

Today it occurred to me that I really should be sharing my recipes as part of my fitness & healthy living journey. ¬†I originally found it difficult to break away from my ‘tried & true recipes’ and change over to 99% healthy eating, but now that I’m in the swing of things, it seems totally natural to cook this way. ¬†:0) ¬†It can be super easy for you to switch over too.

My ‘tried & true recipes’ involved eating a pasta meal of some sort at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. ¬†Lasagna, pasta bake, spag bol, Tuna bake etc etc. ¬†There was also a couple of serves of white potato mash consumed each week. ¬†My first step was to cut out the pasta and switch over to Sweet potato. ¬†The pasta cut out was pretty easy as I just serve my own portion size up prior to adding noodles, pasta etc. ¬†I also switched over to cooking with only extra virgin coconut oil… so yummy .. and so good for you.¬†Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats. Saturated fats not only increase the¬†healthy cholesterol in your body, but also help to convert the ‚Äúbad‚ÄĚ cholesterol into good cholesterols. By Increasing the saturated fats in the body, it helps promote heart health, and lower the risk of heart disease. ¬†I’ve had to ‘trial run’ a few different organic brands as my children aren’t crazy for the actual coconut smell & flavour. ¬†I personally love it, but have had to settle on the brand I now use in order to keep the peace at home.

As I’ve already said, for myself, I have swapped out white potato for sweet potato in EVERY situation where I once used white.. mashed potato, baked potato, potato chips, potato bake, use in casseroles etc. ¬†My family still like the white potato a lot so in most situations (except the mashed variety), it’s easy to still give them the white and I just have the sweet. ¬†I have found that the thermomix makes SUPER delicious sweet potato mash. ¬†It’s even a hit with the fam-bam !!

Ok… so the first recipe I’m going to share with you all is my Cashew Satay Chicken & vegetable casserole. ¬†I make this for my family once a fortnight or so, but have used it a couple of times as my ‘go to meal’ when I’m preparing a meal for a needy family etc.

satay chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 kg skinless chicken breast
  • 1 medium onion
  • 5 or 6 garlic cloves
  • 120g fresh spinach
  • dessert spoon coconut oil
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 large sweet potato
  • can of corn kernels
  • 2 x zuccinis
  • 175g mushrooms
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 175g broccoli
  • 175g Cauliflower
  • 2 x large dessert spoon of organic cashew butter
  • 2 x dessert spoon organic natural honey
  • 2 x dessert spoons cottage cheese.

Method

  1. ¬†Dice up chicken & all vegetables into small pieces (onion & garlic very small… I use my tupperware happy chooper.)
  2. Heat coconut oil on medium to high heat in a large dutch oven sized saucepan
  3. Cook onion, garlic & mushrooms until softened and caramelised.
  4. Add all remaining diced vegetables, turn right down to low and cover.
  5. Stir every few minutes.
  6. When your broccoli has turned a lovely bright green, it’s time to add the chicken.
  7. Add your chicken to the pot, stir through and cover.
  8. Stir every few minutes until your chicken is cooked through.
  9. Add your Cashew butter, honey, corn kernels & cottage cheese and stir through.
  10. Add your choice of herbs & spices.  (I suggest Turmeric be one of them as it is loaded with health benefits.) Cover.
  11. This can now be left for 30mins or so to simmer… or up to 2hrs on a very low heat.(the longer it simmers for, the richer the flavours.)
  12. Serve up & ENJOY all that healthy goodness !!

Notes

  • Not only different stoves, but also different cookware can vary your cooking times & temperatures. ¬†eg. I cook in a very large flavourstone pan which doesn’t need heat over medium to achieve what would need high heat in your run of the mill saucepan. ¬†I also may use my Chef’s Toolbox pan, which is similar to the flavourstone ¬†when it comes to heat range.
  • All of these vegetable quantities are pretty fluid.. put in as little or as much as you like.
  • This amounts makes 2 decent sized meals for a family of 5.
  • In the interest of complete honesty…. the picture I used is not mine… it’s just that this meal NEVER lasts long enough in my home for me to take a nice picture of it, so I had to improvise and use a google image. ¬†:0)
  • You’ll notice I add my raw chicken to the vegetables without browning it first. ¬†I used to do this in a seperate pan as they say it locks in the flavour. ¬†Well, in a state of rush one evening a few months back, I skipped this step and simply added it to the pan. ¬†There was no noticeable change whatsoever, so I have continued to do it this way.. and the child that is on dishes that night thoroughly thanks me for this. ¬†:0)
  • If you go for the longer simmer time, you will find that your sweet potato has completely cooked down to mash and will have melded with your satay sauce. If you don’t like this … go for the shorter simmer time.
  • I have also added natural greek yoghurt when I’ve had some in the fridge and that was a delicious addition to the meal.
  • I’ve also made this satay with natural organic Almond butter.

You will LOVE this recipe.  It is so so easy to make, it gives you 2 meals, and loads you up with lots of vegetable goodness !!!  The added benefit is that you can either bless another family with the second meal, or pop it in the fridge securely covered to enjoy a ready made meal 2 nights later.  Hands up who loves a ready made meal evening !!!  ME !!

So, what are you waiting for…. get cooking peeps !!!!! ¬†xox ¬†:0)

Recognising the blessings

Seriously, why does it require me getting quite unwell in order for me to fully appreciate the blessings of good health? ¬†My last few days have been, let’s just say, rather unpleasant. ¬†I think if I was a man, I’d be calling it man-flu (ha ha). ¬†Sore throat, aches & pains, lethargic, no workouts done (yes, this is seriously part of the sick dilemma as I do get a tad antsy when I can’t workout) ¬†(OK.. maybe a tad crazy)

cartoon-crazy

I’m extremely thankful that this lovely state of health held off until after my trip to Adelaide with my Sis (blog to come), as it really was such a great time. ¬†Very COLD though, extremely cold, so maybe that’s what started it. ¬†BUT, guess what peeps, as in everything that decides to come my way, I’m choosing to LEARN something from and through it.

First thing, as already stated, being reminded to fully appreciate good health. ¬†I was sitting thinking back to last week, feeling 100% healthy and full of energy. ¬†It really brought it home to me that I don’t fully appreciate it when I do feel 100%. ¬†(Man, I’m looking forward to appreciating it when it returns in a few days.)

Psalm 139:13-16 tell us… For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.

‘the days that were formed for me’… ¬†that means that this spot of un-well-ness hasn’t caught The Lord by surprise. ¬†And seeing Romans 8:28 tells us And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.¬†¬†… ¬†I know that God is working things together for my good.¬†

You know what’s a super awesome thing to do when you’re feeling a tad average and have little to no physical energy to spare……

pray

I’ve had some fantastic chats with The Lord in the last day or so. ¬†I’ve felt him leading me in new directions of late and am after some clarification etc, so it’s been great to have these extra ‘full-on’ prayer times. ¬†You know how you can chat on & off with The Lord all day long, but sometimes ‘life’ only allows you the time you diligently put aside for Him. ¬†That right there shows you how important it is to set aside that quiet time with Him each day, coz if you don’t…. life just gobbles all the time up and you find you’re not giving your relationship with The Lord the time in needs.

I’m re-reading ‘The Resolution for Women’ at present and it has some super fantastic verses in it that are great to have up around the house, on the fridge, or in your war-room. ¬†I’m choosing to concentrate on one per day, and TRYING to remember to post it to FB also. ¬†Yesturday’s verse was Mark 12:30 I shall love the Lord my God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind and with all my strength. ¬†

reading-glasses-cartoon-SmileyReading

Another thing I’m learning is that I do a lot more physical work around the house than I realised…. How am I learning this?? coz i’m trying to still do it and just about passing out with exhaustion… what the… I mean it’s just a load of washing. ¬†Surely it’s not usually that heavy? ¬†:0). ¬†Like I said, can’t wait to get back to 100%.

OK loves… not too much depth in this blog, but hey…. ¬†it’s exhausting me just sitting here at my Mac, so hey, take what you can get, right.

Blessings to you all… and HEALTH AND WHOLENESS ¬†coming my way very soon !!! ¬†I’m declaring it in the name of Jesus !!!

Shrinking tents, expanding territory & planning War :0)

Hi all !!

It’s Friday afternoon …. ¬†schoolwork is complete (well, Miss 15 is still going, but hey, she NEVER stops working), the weekend is so close I can taste it. ¬† Youth group for the kiddos tonight means DATE NIGHT for me & DH !! ¬†YAY !!

This week, I posted this pic on my FB page, marking having lost 5kgs.

13315628_10154259302664540_1692590887027485877_n

It’s been quite the head game for me when it comes to numbers. ¬†I fight against the urge to jump on those scales every morning, but I’m getting better and better at sticking to my PTs suggestion of weighing myself only on Day 6 of each month. ¬†I’ve actually not been on the scales since day 6 of last month, so I’m super excited to find out if my very late 5kg lost post was actually quite conservative.

Last time, I was ‘losing weight’, not getting healthy … and that’s the big difference. ¬†Now, don’t get me wrong, I would have been getting fitter in the process, but all I basically did was walk or run, with the weekly bootcamp session thrown in. ¬†I didn’t do much at all in the way of weight training. ¬†So, I got the result I was after, I lost 10kgs in about 4months, but only looked thinner… I had little to no definition.

This time, that number on the scales is going down slower, but I’m not just burning fat, but replacing it with hard core muscle baby !!!!! ¬†I’ve gotta say.. I love the definition I’m getting. ¬†I’ve said it before… toned upper arms is something I really love… and I’m getting closer and closer to being happy with it. ¬†(just in time to cover it up with long sleeves for winter… ha ha)

The weight bench I got for Mother’s Day has been great. ¬†(However sometimes when I’m actually out here I hate it a tiny bit). ¬†I can cover so many different muscle groups in one session, it’s awesome !! ¬†I talk to The Lord a fair bit during longer periods (like rowing) or when I’m struggling to get those last 5 reps in. ¬†I simply DECLARE that I can get them done… and what do you know… I do ! ¬†It’s quite interesting finding out what makes you sore the next day, and what doesn’t. ¬†Apparently it’s just about different muscle groups and some hurt more than others, but I can’t help thinking that if I don’t feel it the next day, I didn’t work hard enough. ¬†This is a good mind-set as it just makes me work harder next time.

I’ve already gotten into my first ‘goal dress’, but the funny thing was that once I was in it, I actually didn’t like it much anymore, so onto eBay it goes. ¬†LOL. (Don’t worry, I did wear it out once.) ¬† Isn’t it funny that you get into these ‘goal’ items, but that means you’re ‘growing out’ of those favorite jeans… ¬†I must say, I’m still going the belt route with my fav jeans.. I just can’t give them up yet. ¬†ha ha.

I’m still having fun ‘healthifying’ my tried and true recipes for my family. ¬†A lot of the time it just means swapping out white potato for sweet potato, or pasta for salad etc, but I’ve also had some fun playing with my lasagna recipe. ¬†The idea actually came from my sister, but I used lavash bread in place of the lasagna sheets.. and it was devine !!! ¬†She also gave me the idea of making the Bechamel sauce with a cauliflower base. ¬†I’ve heard from a few people that it’s delicious…. and such a healthier alternative to having all that milk & flour.

My Thermomix, aka Trixie, has churned out some yummy healthy meals too which has been great. ¬†The bolognese sauce for my lasagna was made in Trixie and was made with only healthy ingredients. ¬†I know I said this about my Belini, but it’s amazing how flavoursome the meals are, being cooked with the thermo method. ¬†You actually use few ingredients, and what you do use is completely natural. ¬†I’m able to put so many vegetables in that the kids would normally balk at, like mushrooms, celery & squash.

Trixie

I’ve also loved being able to plate up a full healthy meal to my family when the ENTRIE thing… meat, vegetables and a sauce were made in Trixie.. and all simultaneously. ¬†I just LOVE it !! The kids (who are the washer-uppers in our house as our dishwasher died a couple of years ago and we are yet to replace it) love when I cook in Trixie as it’s reduces the amount they have to wash up.

I never thought I’d be a big advocate of the $2.300 kitchen appliance to be honest, which is why I bought the $700 Belini first and then only upgraded after knowing that I loved the thermo cooking method. ¬†But, now having had it for a few weeks and having made loads of things in it, I would seriously highly recommend it. It seriously is true that you’ll save money when you have one, due to reducing the amount of processed items you buy.

AND it can’t be ignored that is has helped me no end as far as serving up healthy dinners. ¬†My Trixie is definitely helping in the process of shrinking my temple. ¬†BUT (Yes, I do love putting words of emphasis in capitals… sorry, not sorry) while my earthly tent is shrinking, I gotta tell you all, my spiritual tent is GROWING !!!! ¬†Remember I blogged about my big fur coat prophecy… ¬†well I’ve continued to ask for expansion, (enlarge my territory.. 1 Chronicles 4:10) and while it’s come with some pain & many tears, I continue to grow in The Lord, loving my time spent with Him, and learning all He has to teach me.

I’m super dooper excited to share with you all that after nearly a year of planning on where my ‘War Room’ would be in my house, I’ve finally done it !!! ¬†I wanted somewhere where I could go regularly, spend time with The Lord where I specifically focus on the needs of my loved ones. ¬†I haven’t gotten to getting my ‘war plan’ up on the wall as yet, but that is on my wknd list for this very wknd. ¬†Can’t wait….. super excited & expectant !!!

OK peeps. ¬†Have a fantastic weekend…. Press in to The Lord… You’ll always be blown away by what he does with your time together.

Blessings xx

Positioned like a see-saw

I remember sitting under a teaching a few years back about how our posture as a disciple of Jesus Christ should be with one hand stretched upwards to someone in a mentoring capacity.. to someone who is further along in their walk with The Lord than us. Meanwhile, the other arm reaches down, ‘pulling up’, encouraging & discipling someone coming along behind us. ¬†Someone that is a little further back in their walk with The Lord than where we are.

The person you’re reaching up to has a little more life experience than you, so is able to teach and help you through similar situations. ¬†In turn, you can teach & help the one you are encouraging, because of the trials, struggles and victories you have walked through.

I also remember receiving an image about this, back when sitting under that teaching, of one long road with people littered all along it, all at different stages. ¬†I probably should have drawn in it seeing as I wasn’t able to find something that I felt represented it, but this gives you an idea.

DiscipleshipTitle1

When I had this come to mind last night, the Holy Spirit gave me an image of a seesaw, but it wasn’t like one end was completely up and the other completely down…. it’s not normally positioned in that way, and I don’t believe it would be nearly as effective either. ¬†I think the image of a set of scales where one end has a slightly heavier weight onboard than the other shows a more accurate picture of the common situation, but as the ‘weight’ part of the image makes no sense, I think the seesaw is better.

51344-5323149

This one is more like it.

The person reaching down needs to have the HUMILITY required to fulfil this role in another’s life, while also having the WISDOM to take on this responsibility.

Something that simple cannot be in the equation is pridefulness !!!

Just because I like definitions, let’s look at some now…

First, a ‘secular’ definition of Humility –the quality of having a modest or low view of one’s importance. ¬†While in essence, this is true, I don’t like it one bit as it doesn’t sit well with me when you consider that we are a temple of The Holy Spirit. ¬†We have the power of Christ within us, so when I consider our ROLE in God’s Kingdom, we certainly do not have a low level of importance. ¬†I guess what it comes down to though is the importance of that role, as opposed to the importance of us as a person. ¬†That’s where the pridefulness can come into it. ¬†If we are prideful about our own importance & think that that importance is ¬†seperate to God, that’s when we will run into trouble.

A biblical definition of Humility ¬†–God says when you are humble, you are free from pride and arrogance. You know that in your flesh you are inadequate, yet you also know who you are in Christ. ¬†I LOVE this !!! ¬†So so true !! Free from pride & arrogance !!

Now for Wisdom…¬†the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgement; the quality of being wise.

Not bad…. let’s look at it from a biblical point of view though.

Wisdom begins and ends with the fear of the Lord. It isn‚Äôt a fear of being struck by lightning or fear of being struck dead but it‚Äôs a deep, abiding, holy reverence and respect for the Lord and for His Word, the Bible. The Book of Proverbs has more to say about wisdom than any other book in the Bible. For example in Proverbs 9:10 Solomon, who was the wisest man on earth, at least until Christ came, said that ‚ÄúThe fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.‚ÄĚ Where there is fear, there tends to be obedience and God has said He prefers obedience over sacrifice (1 Sam 15:22; Hosea 6:6). Sometimes obedience comes before understanding and when someone obeys what they know to be true, understanding usually follows. Wisdom begins with reverence for God and a fear for Him and His Word. That‚Äôs where wisdom begins. Where there is no fear of the Lord, there can never be any true wisdom. It‚Äôs just not possible.

Now, both these two traits can be tricky, and not always easy to uphold, especially in weakness during struggle.  It takes real DISCIPLINE to be HUMBLE & use WISDOM  to take the right path when in a struggle or under attack.

discipleship

Two other words that I really think needs to come into the scenario is COMMITMENT & RESPONSIBILITY !! ¬†We need to be there for our ‘person’ at all times, even at times of our own struggles. ¬†The only way we can do that is by walking closely with The Lord, digging into The Word & being accountable.

As a mentor, your role is to teach and inspire by words and example, so you can come alongside someone in their personal development and learning development using your life, Christian experiences, and education as tools.. You are a role model to someone. This is a precious responsibility that is to be taken seriously, but also enjoyed. You need to be one who is growing in the Lord, and who takes His Word and precepts to heart and to life. Because someone is placing his or her trust as a counselor and teacher in you, you need to be real and growing to do this right. Therefore, you are the one the Lord will use to provide opportunities for spiritual learning, development, and growth.

Matthew 12:36 & 37 tell us … I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, ¬†for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.‚ÄĚ ¬†Words hold power peeps.. in so many ways, so be careful with your words !!!

If The Lord entrusts you with a ‘mentee’ ¬†(that’s probs not actually a word, but you know what I mean) then see it as the privilege that it is, and ENJOY it, but never ignore the commitment and the responsibility that goes along with it.

Oh.. and one last thing…. DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS RESPONSIBILITY !! ¬†Treat it as the GIFT that it is. ¬†You will grow through every moment as a mentor too… it’s not a one-way deal. ¬†Another thing that has been evident in my walk and I believe I can pass onto others and it be of help, is this… ¬†When God leads you in a different direction… be it towards a different person, or away from a person…. LISTEN TO HIM & ACT ON IT !!

Maybe you will be in a mentor type relationship with someone for a very long time, but often you will not. ¬†People with this need or gifting come in & out of our lives at GOD’S will, not ours !!! ¬†We may be of help, or receive help from someone for a season and that be all God intended for each of our journeys. ¬†When that happens… ¬†seek confirmation from Him.. and then accept & move on, being ever watchful for new doors being opened.

Isn’t it FUN being a child of God !!!!! ¬†Seriously, I LOVE IT !!!! ¬†So much to learn, grow in and become !!!!

Blessings peeps !!!  xox

Life is continuing….

Oh my goodness, if I’d left it another two days, it would have been an entire month between blogs…that’s downright SLACK !!!

So much has been going on.. which does help to explain my slackness in the blogging department.

The highlights are –

  • Baby Boy Lucas is now HOME and powering on like the little warrior he has proven himself to be. ¬†He’s settling in at home, putting on weight, getting to know his big brother, and is having his first immunisations today.

12274740_10156180455970580_8816686548069678247_n (1)

  • I scored myself a not very pleasant intercostal injury about a month ago and am actually still suffering from that. ¬†However, it IS improving (PRAISE GOD !!) so things ARE on the up & up. ¬†I think I did it because I did either too many sit ups, or did sit ups incorrectly. ¬†I had both an ultrasound and an X-ray on my right side chest/ribs etc but it didn’t show anything. ¬†As a result, I’ve had to change my exercise routine … ¬†for the first two weeks, I couldn’t do ANYTHING. ¬†I am pleased to say though that I must have been doing just enough to keep the weight loss train going as the number has continued to drop slowly each Tuesday morning for my weigh-in.
  • We are now down to only two weeks and two days until we sail far far away across the sea !!! ¬†Our renewed passports finally arrived so this is a relief. ¬†I cannot even tell you how excited & humbled I am to know that I get to enjoy two weeks ‘off the job’. ¬†No cleaning, cooking, washing…. ¬†Thank you Jesus !!!
  • Sadly there is ups and downs (more downs) ¬†in family over the last few weeks that look to be continuing for a while. ¬†However, God is teaching me a lot throughout. ¬†It’s so easy to see someone’s actions as selfishness on the surface, but when looking deeper, you can expose emotional issues that deserve additional care. ¬†Also, sadly, it is human nature to ‘arc up’ when someone does something to upset you, when in fact, we’ve been commissioned to Love thy neighbour, repay bad with GOOD, do all we can to expand God’s Kingdom, and most importantly, be the LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS !!!
  • DH is really enjoying having his aeroplane and being able to go up to the airfield whenever he can and go for a fly IN HIS OWN PLANE. ¬†He’s been waiting a very long time for this and is LOVING IT !! ¬†He’s also made a nice group of friends up there, which is just as much a part of the whole ‘scene’ he’s been wanting to be apart of for so long. They sit around with their drinks and discuss all things ‘planes’. ¬†I’m really really happy for him. ¬†& as you can see, the kids are enjoying it too.

IMG_3960

  • The biggest homeschool excursion (78 people) I have ever organised went off without a hitch (or any drownings)… Woot Woot !!

20151110_145205

  • Miss 14’s dance comps all went very well. ¬†Now to enjoy the break before it all starts again in Feb 2016.
  • The 2016 homeschool journey has been decided on which is also a weight off my shoulders. ¬†The older two kiddos are currently working through diagnostic testing for next year and are doing very well with them.

So there you go, that basically brings you up to speed, to a degree, on our lives.

Even amongst the ups and downs of ‘life’ I love how God makes ‘lessons’ out of all situations, good & bad. ¬†I’ve also been reading Jefferson Bethke’s Jesus>Religion which is really opening up my view on things.

My Super Bella helps me eat clean… all the way to flat & toned abs !!

Hiya all… ¬†It’s kinda cold and rainy here in Brisvegas tonight … so a perfect time to whip up a delicious meal of Spinach & Mushroom Risotto (made vegan style with the butter substituted with Avo, and the cheese with milled cashews). ¬†Seems kinda funny making a Vegan meal when we’re eating it with fish.. but hey, the effort is there. ¬†ha ha.

We’ve actually been having Risotto withdrawals since my Super Bella decided to die and it was 3wks until the replacement arrived this week. ¬†I also finally managed to do the firmware update on it which is a real plus. ¬†As far as I know it basically means it’ll stop beeping at me when cooking is done, and also will reduce the display time of the warning symbol when you take the lid off to 5sec instead of constant. ¬†It was kinda annoying when you took the lid off as you’d lost your recipe screen due to this warning screen coming up. ¬†Yes, I get the idea that there is a blade in there and it’s not a good idea for me to stick my hand in… thanks.

I’m really enjoying finding healthy but yummy ways to change our family eating style. ¬†DH & the boys like to put their nose in the air if I even hint at it being a ‘healthier’ version, so I’ve stopped telling them what I substitute the unhealthy elements for… it’s just easier that way. ¬†They eat healthier food without even knowing it. ¬†:0) ¬†Hopefully they’ll thank me later.

I’m actually quite surprised how much healthy food I’ve been able to dish up without complaints. ¬†Broccoli, zucchini, spinach, cauli & carrot are all very regular parts of our meals and they get eaten without a fuss… woot woot.. Mummy WIN !!

These meals along with my sit-ups and weight training are getting me closer and closer to my goal of a fit healthy body that will keep me running for years… ¬†(even though looking at current world events and compare it what we read in the book of Revelation, we may not be here much longer.. but hey.. that’s for another blog.)

Hope you have all had a great weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead. ¬†2nd week of school hols for us… so we really need to tackle that job list that has barely been started.

Blessings  xox
